Simple Bird Treats

To finish up learning about birds, we made some simple bird snacks to hang outside. I’ve seen these floating around blogland before, but most recently on A Day in the Life of the Brown Family. They are simple to make and involve lots of hands on fun for kids.

To make them we picked out a couple cookie cutter shapes and my son pressed them into a slice of bread. Then he spread peanut butter all over one side of the shape. Next we poured some bird seed in a shallow dish and my son pressed the shape down into the bird seed, covering the peanut butter completely.

I poked a hole in the shapes with a screw driver (that happened to sitting on the counter from husband Lol) and strung a piece of yard through it so we could hang them out on a tree.

We haven’t actually witnessed a bird eating off of them yet, but half of one is completely missing so something was eating away at it.  🙂

We’ve had a fun go around with birds the last couple weeks. I’m a little sad to be moving on because it’s one of my favorite subjects. In case you missed any of our fun crafts you can read more about them by clicking on the pictures below.
