Pre-K Crash Course Review

My sweet Luke will be starting Kindergarten next week. Although I feel like we've prepared as well as we could for this day to come, we have seriously slacked this Summer in the educational department. Since he is having a Kindergarten readiness test on Friday, I developed a Pre-K Crash Course Review for him to work on this week to refresh his mind with all the things he has learned in preparation for starting Kindergarten.

To review cutting and gluing (and shapes), I drew simple shapes on white, yellow, red and black paper for Luke to cut out and make a school bus. I prefer to use glue sticks at our house, but I know my children's school uses Elmer's Glue in Kindergarten, so I made sure to have him use it to complete this project. He also used colored pencils to draw himself and friends in the bus.

I made simple worksheets numbered 1 to 20 to practice counting by adding the correct amount of dots in each square. Luke got a little over anxious in the higher numbers so I had him double check his work and cross out any extra dots he made. You can find the printables for this activity HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE (there are 4).

I made a printable found HERE for a Roll the Dice Addition Practice Game. Simply roll the dice, color in the dots and solve the problem. Write the answer on the blank line.

Not only does this practice addition, but it also reviews writing numbers. I purchased the large dice from Dollar Tree. Regular dice obviously works just the same.

For hand-eye coordination, Luke will be making this alphabet necklace, making sure to string the letters in the correct order.

This is an activity I made last Valentine's to review upper and lower case letters. Simply find the correct match of hearts by combining upper and lower case letters. You can find my printable HERE but it looks blurry when I pull it up. I'm not sure how it prints. It is a PowerPoint document so if you are interested in me emailing the file directly to you, let me know.

One thing our Kindergarten works on at the beginning of the year is knowing the correct order of the alphabet. These Magnetic ABC Order Worksheets from Make, Take and Teach are excellent! Place the worksheet on a cookie tray, and use magnetic letters to fill in the blanks. They come from their Cookie Sheet Activities Set which is only $3.50 in their store. Definitely a purchase you will not regret!

For more advanced students, there are making words worksheets where children blend sounds to spell out the words pictured on the worksheet.

I recently came across these fantastic Kindergarten Readiness Worksheets from Super Mom Moments. They have a few more worksheets worth checking out as well!

As you can see we are busy, busy, busy this week! I hope you find some of these activities useful with your Pre-K students!

All of those activities are super awesome. I have been working with my 4 year old on learning the alphabet and those would sure help make it more interesting. We do the worksheets like you have at the bottom, but I wanted to reuse them so I put them into sheet protectors and they use dry erase markers. I love it because I NEVER have to use extra paper or ink.

Have a fabulous day!
